Starting with modest office space at Asbury United Methodist Church and an annual budget of just $13,000, the Urban Mission turned its vision of ecumenical collaboration into a reality.
In its early years, the Mission focused on advocacy, helping individuals navigate the social services system, and access essential resources. As the demand for services grew, the Mission continued to expand its programming and service area throughout Jefferson County.
Today, the Urban Mission assists individuals and families in Jefferson and neighboring counties. The Mission offers numerous programs, providing critical support services for people facing poverty, food insecurity, homelessness, and mental health challenges. With a focus on advocacy and community partnerships, the Urban Mission continues to help individuals build resources and achieve a higher quality of life.
